Welcome to
Bamboo straws
Made in Laos

Why bamboo? It continuously grows in the humid and warm forests and along unnumbered river banks in Laos. It is a grass not wood.

1. Environmental*: our multi-use straws are made from wild bamboo without any farming input, chemical components, negative impact on the environment and decompose easily. We consider bamboo as the most sustainable material for drinking straws in general.

2. Socio-economical: rural producers can earn up to three times more when making straws compared to pure subsistence farming or other low-income activities allowing increased education and health investments.

3. Financial: this project is internally financed and not donor or grant dependent encouraging all involved to improve efficiency and productivity.

* We select our producers carefully and pay them higher prices as they produce quality straws free of pesticides and chemicals. Quality assurance is important to us and our customers as bamboo straws are considered a food contact material.  We therefore got our large batches of straws tested by Intertek Consumer Goods Germany in 10/2019. Our straws passed all relevant tests successfully.
